Rep. Blake A. Filippi Kills Senate Bill S43 – Expedition of Tax Sales on Private Property
S43 came to the House floor as the last bill of the 2017 session after having just passed the Senate. Minority Whip Blake A. Filippi catches many pitfalls of Senate bill S43 and is able to have the bill recommitted – effectively killing it for the 2017 session.
Among other changes to the existing framework, S43 sought to limit the ability of property owners to undo illegal tax sales, and also require them to incur the expense of legal filings before paying the outstanding taxes due or seeking more time to pay.
The bill was recommitted to committee and never received a floor vote.
